Earlier this year we featured a list of the Best Jobs for 2016. As an IT staffing agency, we were happy to report 11 of the top 25 were tech jobs.

The list, which was originally compiled by Glassdoor, included job titles, how many openings were available and the median salary. Now we’re looking into some of these jobs and explaining what they actually entail.

So if you’ve ever wondered what a data scientist does all day, stick around.

The top 3 tech jobs on the original list were Data Scientist, Solutions Architect, and Mobile Developer and here is some more information about each of these “best jobs”:

Data Scientist

As a data scientist, you would spend your day helping your company identify and solve problems based on data they have collected through multiple sources. You would then create systems to help the company grow and communicate with the company’s executives. According to IBM, “the formal training is similar, with a solid foundation typically in computer science and applications, modeling, statistics, analytics and math.”

Solutions Architect

If you like to find solutions for problems using a new technology, perhaps a solutions architect is the right career for you. It helps if you are familiar with programming languages and database management systems, as well as have a degree in computer science, information systems or engineering.

Mobile Developer

You know all of those apps on your phone that you love? Well they were created by a mobile developer. Typically a mobile developer looks for problems and creates solutions through an mobile app. They will spend their day coding and troubleshooting, and some companies prefer if you have experience specifically with Android or iOS platforms.
